River Kwai Village
River Kwai Village 50 Km north west of Kanchanaburi. It is an older hotel that has been expanded many times, most recently around 2015 with a brand new department in the southernmost corner. This section has its own pool and separate from the old section of the parking lot. It is a hotel with several hundred beds, but can still be fully booked in the high season. There are often Russians or Chinese who book the entire hotel. If the hotel is filled with Russians and Chinese, then it is also a noisy noise for most people. It is best to visit it outside of high season.
The rooms have been continuously refurbished, so the whole complex today is quite modern.
The resort has been revisited on 6th December 2022

Down by the water are some of the hotel's oldest rooms. It is houseboats anchored below the hotel. It's not too bad going.

A look up from the gangway up to the hotel. It's a long way up. Today, all boats and landing bridges have moved 100 meters south
2012
Here I am on board one of the houseboats. It is quite nice to be here. The river runs past with a rather heavy current.
2012
The eastern part is on a slope with a steep cliff. Here, a smaller garden has been built
2012
Today there are 3 swimming pools for the hotel. This is the Northern, mostly for children. It was in early 2019 during renovation.
2012
This is taken from the parking lot. Below were the houseboats until 2017/18 where they were moved a little south.
2012
This is from the new section in the southern part. Here is your own pool and a small area to relax in.
2017
2017
To the south, this building is used for various outdoor activities when guests are in large teams
2017
The reception is behind the sign here. It's taken on the parking lot.
2017
View of the river. Here the houseboats are now moved to
2017
6 sunbeds are not many when you consider how many rooms this section has. It is almost only a kind of exhibition.
2017
The roof over the new living area is very large and high ceilings. There is not much protection for rain if it also blows just a little.
2017
A look down over the new pool to the sourth. It is split up with a children's basin and one for adults.
2017
The pool with the residence building in the background
2017
In the northern corner is some of the older ones, but it has been renovated in recent times so the rooms are up to date. To each room there is a small balcony facing the river.
2019
The floating rooms are some of the hotel's most expensive today. For years back it was the cheapest. They are seen here by their new place.
2019
This is the new path across to the floating rooms. It is nicely made and it gives the boats a more discreet location.
2019
Here is the decline to the floating department. The boats have moved about 100 meters south in 2017/18, and are now below the new hotel section.
2019
The reception is characterized by the fact that the hotel is of an older date. These furniture cut out of the roots of old teak trees would hardly be purchased today.
2019
The room with the possibility of opening a door to a neighboring room.
2019
The hotel restaurant. This is the covered one, to the left is an open part.
2019
I revisited the River Kwai Village Hotel. 6-7 years ago they built a new wing, but it was significantly more expensive to rent, so I was still in one of the old sections. This time I was in the new section when they said the hotel's other section was partially closed, and as the situation is right now, the hotel is simply too big. 4 wings and 3 pools.
Here is the room, they can be opened in pairs and each room has a bed for 4 people. It looks nice, but cozy is not the first word that comes to mind here, so rather a room in one of the older sections or down on the river.
2022
A look from the bathroom into the bedroom where a sliding door can open up insight.
2022
View from the room down the River Kwai and their riverboats. They are not happy to rent them out.
2022
The hotel is mostly used by large companies and travel agencies, e.g. Russian. Since the Russians are absent due to their warfare, the hotel is somewhat closed. This last evening there was only us for dinner and they had to open the restaurant and call the chef. However, the menu card is not something they garner many stars for.

I have gone up to the old part of the hotel, a section which has only been opened to a limited extent since the country was shut down in April 2020 during the covid pandemic. It is starting to need a loving hand in certain places.
2022
This is the River Wing, a wing with a direct view of the river. It was closed due to renovation they said, but the facts were a little different. A company had lived there, and now they were in the process of cleaning. Note the new towels on the railing!
2022
The northernmost of the 3 pools was not under renovation either, the pumps were in full swing.
2022
The new wing - Cliff Wing seen from the south. The wing has 3 floors, of which the lowest floor is partly buried in the hill.
2022
View down the River Kwai and the wing on the water - Thai Raft, seen from the roof. This section was also closed - they said, but the reality was different.
2022
Classic buffet, but you could dish up hot fried eggs. They had covered the salad with some liquid substance, something you probably learn at cooking school. You can also serve this substance in a small bowl, then I decide myself whether to pour it over the salad, now the salad just went in the bin...!
2022
It's now the last morning for this round, so it's time to say goodbye. We were the last guests at the hotel. It is the result of a headless shutdown due to a new flu, the worst madness the world has ever seen, actually worse than a world war.
