Wat Mahathat

Wat Mahathat is one of many ruins in Ayutthaya 75 Km north of Bangkok. It was the last capital before it was moved to Bangkok where it is today. It happened after they could not protect it from the Burmese assault, plundering the burning of the city in 1767. The temple itself was built in 1374. See also another temple I revisited the temple on December 1, 2022.

NA

Everything is built of brick and something has been plastered. These have been for over 650 years. The foundations provide some places. It is breathtaking to look at.

Here has once been a building, not much is left.

This is without a doubt the most photographed in all of Ayutthaya, a mask which was placed on a tree when it was young

As can also be seen in this photo, the buildings are gone. Only the massive pagodas have survived.

Before this pagoda overturns, I say goodbye to this trip.

There were not many tourists that day, otherwise it would be impossible to photograph without 100 people coming.

NA

The path of red stones has been laid in recent times, as the lawn cannot at all with the many tourists.
